Electronic books are available for KCU student use. They are available through the following resources:

Information about our Electronic Books in our Online Catalog

Good News! Many of the electronic books available in our online catalog are now available for download to your computer! Once you have selected a title and downloaded it, it will be available to view for a set period of time. Usually this will be 7 days.

To access these items, two programs will need to be downloaded to your personal computers. One is Adobe Reader 8.1 or higher. The other is Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher.

To Download Adobe Reader:

Click on the link for Adobe Reader.
Click off the green check mark next to “Include in your download” so that you do not acquire another Google Toolbar.
Click on “Download now”
Follow the prompts.

To Download Adobe Digital Editions:

Click on the link for Adobe Digital Editions.
Click on “Download now” in the grey column on the right.
Click on “Launch” to begin the installer.
Follow the prompts.

Now you are ready to search for a book in our catalog. Remember you can select the material type on our advanced search screen.

Once you have selected a title that you would like to checkout:

Click on the title of the book
Click on “Click here to view this resource online”.

Once the screen opens, if the book is able to be downloaded, you will see “Download this eBook (offline)”

My EBSCOhost

Once you have clicked on "Download this eBook" you will see a screen that asks you to sign in to your "My EBSCOhost" account. This is a username and password that you will create.

On the top right side of the screen you will see "Create a new Account"

Click on this and fill in the requested information.
Our suggestion is that you use your KCU email address for your username and the letters kc followed by the last six digits of your student ID number for your password.

For example:

Username: jsmith@kcu.edu
Password: kc123456

Save your changes. This username and password will need to be saved somewhere by you.

Select the checkout period in days from the dropdown menu

Click on Checkout & Download

Click on Open to access your book

Use the arrows on the bottom right of the page to navigate throught the pages.

To Reopen an Electronic Book Title

Go to your start menu
Go to "All Programs"
Click on Adobe Digital Editions
Your currently checked out title should open
