Indexes and Abstracts
Periodical indexes and abstracts in Young Library cover a wide
variety of subject disciplines. Please seek assistance in locating
these items which are housed in the Periodicals Room.
Internet-delivered indexes such as American Theological Library
Association, Christian Periodical Index, JStor, EBSCOhost, and
FirstSearch are available through links on the Databases page of
our web site. Guidance on using these resources is also available
by linking to the Tutorials page.
Locating Periodicals
Current issues of periodical titles are located on the far right side
of the library. Other issues from the current year may be located
in the Periodicals Room or may be requested at the Circulation Desk.
A list of available current periodicals and back files of periodicals
in Young Library is located at the Circulation Desk, in the Periodicals
Room, and at the Journal Holdings link on our web site.
Periodicals from previous years are located in alphabetical order
in the Periodicals Room. Although periodicals may not leave Young
Library, a photocopier, at ten cents per copy, is available near the
entrance of the library. To retrieve full-text periodical articles not
kept in Young Library, access the links on our Databases page.
Microfiche
Some periodicals are available only on microfiche. Microfiche is
included in our listings of available periodical titles and are kept in
the Periodicals Room. Readers for microfiche are located within
the Periodicals Room. A microfiche reader/printer is also available
at 10 cents per copy. Assistance with microfiche is available from
our library staff.
Newspapers
Young Library subscribes to a variety of national and local
newspapers. The current papers are kept on reading sticks
near the current periodicals. Previous issues are available by
request at the Circulation Desk. Some early issues of local
papers are kept on microfilm. These are kept in the Periodicals
Room, as is the microfilm reader.
