Circulation
In order to check out any materials from Young Library, you MUST present your own KCU ID or register at the Circulation Desk as an off-campus user.
Regular circulating books may be checked out for two weeks with an optional one week renewal period.
Items from the following collections DO NOT leave Young Library:
- Periodicals
- Newspapers
- Reference
- Compact Discs
- Microfiche
- Microfilm
- Mission File
Reserve
Items which instructors require for their courses are often placed on reserve to ensure equality of access to all students. Items that have been placed on reserve must be requested at the Circulation Desk. The circulation time of these items varies according to instructor’s guidelines. Reserve items must be returned to the Circulation Desk. The reserve list may be pulled up via Virtua.
Holds
A hold is a request that you may place for any circulating item in Young Library that is not currently available on the shelf. Once the item you requested is in, you will be notified and the item will be held for a period of one week. If the item is not retrieved within that week, the hold will be canceled and the item will return to circulation.
Multimedia
Videos, CD’s, cassettes, slide sets, microfiche, and microfilm comprise the Multimedia Collection at Young Library. Videos must be requested at the Circulation Desk. Videos are currently the only multimedia items which circulate outside of Young Library on a regular basis. These may circulate for a period of 3 days with a limit of 3 each per user. Music CD’s as assigned for student use by the Music Department circulate on a limited basis.
A searchable database of these is available by linking to the Music Holdings page.
